Recent Privacy Update: Spaced Repetition & Anki Export
We've added a Spaced Repetition review mode that saves the individual questions you answer so you can review them over time, along with the ability to export those questions as an Anki-compatible flashcard deck. This update also continues to use third-party services for fonts (Google Fonts), celebration effects (canvas-confetti), visual effects (PlayCanvas-style rendering), and code syntax highlighting (highlight.js). Learn more about these services below.
1. Introduction
Welcome to InQuiziTriv ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you interact with our chatbot. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access or use the service.
We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. We will alert you about any changes by updating the "Effective Date" of this Privacy Policy.
2. Collection of Your Information
We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the chatbot includes:
- Account Information: To provide a personalized experience, we may collect your username if you create an account or log in.
- Conversation Data: We collect the messages you send to the chatbot ("user input") and the responses generated by the chatbot. This includes questions you ask, quiz answers you provide, and any other text you submit during your session.
- Gamification Data (Registered Users): If you create an account, we collect and store gameplay statistics to power our leaderboards and achievement system. This includes:
- Quiz scores and performance metrics
- Answer streaks and accuracy rates
- XP (experience points) and level progression
- Achievement unlock timestamps
- Daily play streaks and quiz completion counts
- Categories of quizzes you have played
This data is used to calculate your position on leaderboards and track your progress through the achievement system.
- Spaced Repetition Review Data (Registered Users): If you create an account, our Spaced Repetition review mode stores the individual quiz questions you answer so they can be scheduled for future review. For each question, we store:
- The question text, the correct answer, and the available answer choices
- The category the question belongs to
- Whether you answered it correctly and your review history (times seen, accuracy)
- Scheduling data used by the spaced-repetition algorithm (due date, interval, and ease)
This data is stored on our servers, is tied to your account, and is used solely to power the Spaced Repetition review mode and to generate the Anki export described below.
- Local Storage Data (Browser-Only): To provide session persistence, we store certain data in your browser's localStorage. This includes:
What is stored locally:
- Quiz session history and conversation messages
- Draft messages you're composing
- Session metadata (timestamps, session IDs)
Important notes:
- This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers
- You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings
- Maximum storage: approximately 50 sessions with automatic cleanup of older entries
- This feature works for both anonymous and logged-in users
3. Use of Your Information
Having accurate information permits us to provide you with a smooth, efficient, and customized experience. Specifically, we may use information collected about you via the chatbot to:
- Generate chatbot responses to your messages and requests.
- Create and manage your account.
- Generate and grade trivia quizzes based on your interaction.
- Maintain a history of your conversation to provide context for follow-up questions.
- Monitor and analyze usage and trends to improve your experience with the chatbot.
- Display your scores on public leaderboards (Daily, Weekly, and All-Time rankings).
- Track and award achievements based on your gameplay milestones.
- Schedule questions you have answered for future review using our Spaced Repetition mode.
- Generate an Anki-compatible flashcard deck (.apkg file) from your saved questions when you choose to export them.
- Display your public profile including level, achievements, and statistics to other users.
- Google Analytics: We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage statistics and visitor data to help us understand how users interact with the site, improve the user experience, and analyze potential customer engagement.
4. Disclosure of Your Information & Third-Party Services
We may share information we have collected about you in certain situations.
Third-Party API:
The core functionality of the InQuiziTriv, which can be found at https://www.inquizitriv.com/, is powered by a third-party service. Your conversation data is sent to OpenAI to generate responses.
- This data is transmitted to the OpenAI API, which can be accessed at: https://api.openai.com/v1.
- We do not control how OpenAI uses this data. We strongly advise you to review their privacy policy to understand how your information is handled. You can access OpenAI's privacy policy here: https://openai.com/privacy.
Third-Party Services for Visual Effects & Fonts:
To enhance your experience with visual effects and typography, we use the following third-party services:
- Google Fonts: We use Google Fonts to provide consistent, high-quality typography across the application. When you access our service, your browser may download font files from Google's servers. Google may collect anonymized usage data. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.
- Canvas-Confetti (confetti.browser.min.js): We use the canvas-confetti library to display celebration effects when you achieve perfect scores or unlock achievements. This library runs entirely in your browser and does not transmit any data to external servers. Source: https://github.com/catdad/canvas-confetti (ISC License).
- PlayCanvas-Style Effects: We use custom canvas-based visual effects inspired by the PlayCanvas engine for particle animations (sparkles, fire trails, explosions) during gameplay. These effects run entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API and do not transmit any data to external servers.
- highlight.js (Syntax Highlighting): We use the highlight.js library to display code snippets with color-coded syntax highlighting inside chatbot responses. The library and its stylesheet are loaded from the Cloudflare cdnjs content delivery network. When your browser downloads these files, Cloudflare may receive request metadata such as your IP address and user agent. The library itself processes code entirely within your browser and does not transmit your conversation or code content to external servers. Source: https://github.com/highlightjs/highlight.js (BSD-3-Clause License). For information on the delivery network, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Spaced Repetition & Anki Deck Export:
Our Spaced Repetition review mode and the associated flashcard export use the following components:
- genanki (Anki deck generation): When you choose to export your saved questions, we use the open-source genanki Python library on our servers to package your questions and answers into an Anki-compatible deck file (.apkg). This processing happens entirely within our own infrastructure — genanki is a local library and does not transmit your data to any external service. The file is then delivered to you as a download. Source: https://github.com/kerrickstaley/genanki (MIT License).
- Anki (third-party flashcard application): The exported .apkg file is intended for use with Anki, a separate, third-party spaced-repetition flashcard application not operated by us. If you import your deck into Anki or a compatible app, any subsequent storage, syncing, or sharing of that data is governed by Anki's own terms and privacy practices. We do not transmit your data to Anki; the export is downloaded directly by you and imported at your discretion. For more information, see the Anki website and its privacy documentation.
By Law or to Protect Rights:
If we believe the release of information about you is necessary to respond to legal process, to investigate or remedy potential violations of our policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of others, we may share your information as permitted or required by any applicable law, rule, or regulation.
5. Your Rights and Control Over Your Information
We provide you with options to manage your data. Based on the functionality of our service, you have the right to:
- Delete your chat conversations.
- Delete your user account entirely, which also removes your saved Spaced Repetition review questions and scheduling data.
- Clear local storage data: You can clear all locally stored session data through your browser's settings (typically under Privacy or Site Settings). This will remove all saved quiz sessions and drafts from your device.
These options are available within the "Settings" menu of the application's sidebar.
6. Security of Your Information
We use administrative and technical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.
7. Policy for Children
We do not knowingly solicit information from or market to children under the age of 13. If you become aware of any data we have collected from children under age 13, please contact us using the contact information provided below.
